Swinging arm nuts

You guys aren't much help. The poor bloke needs a precise torque.

To calculate the correct torque, use the following formula:
Pt=1.094?r2 + ?{sinذ-loge?(n-1)}/Rminor.

Because there's a nut on each end of the shaft, you'll need to divide by two and use a contra-rotating phalanx wrench to achieve the correct torque. If your wrench has the homologation transducer with coriolis correction, the torque is displayed in binary notation on the swivel-mount screen attached to the auxiliary handle, but only when the auxiliary handle is perpendicular to the other two handles and plugged into a USB port.

Always wear an aluminium foil cap and latex boots when using a contra-rotating phalanx wrench.

Please post some photos of yourself carrying out the above procedure.

Bullshit, you're talking through your hat. You a mechanic? Tighten till it won't tighten no more.

(I'll look it up in my big blue book when I get home ;))

If you were a naval type fella you would also megger it, take off two thou and add five gallons. If that doesn't work, hititwithanammer!

The RGS manual says 52-59 ft-lbs but that's an RGS not a 1000 3CL.....

I agree with the farken tight theory...but not jump up and down on the long socket handle theory.

There you go, if i remember correctly, I tightened mine to 55 ft-lbs before heading north.

Thanks for the replies guys. So from your comments;
40 ft/lbs  is 'good n tight'.
50lbs/ft is  'bloody tight'
60lbs/ft is 'farking tight'
Any thing above  will strip the thread so I back it off 1/2 a turn put on the latex boots and go inside and see the wife!

That's all good assuming your wife likes latex boots.... :o :o

Try matching latex catsuit, and a billiard ball strapped in the mouth .......... and the three various sized toys to obtain:
'good n tight'  :D

'bloody tight'  :D

'farking tight'  :o
