  Morning all ,
I see Paul  Marx  has some 60/2 slides for sale , but before  I commit to them  can get some help with the sizing  and suitability , being new to these bikes and Dellortos in general .
My 3CL currently  has 70/1 s fitted , which look like they need replacing with the wear marks etc,  the motor had 4c cams , standard pistons , open carbs and straight through exhaust and some home made rearsets for good measure !
My rebuild will have  Axtell carbs , 10:1 pistons , rebuilt head from Redax and  Malcolm's open Jota pipes .  Will be using the    Dellorto32 A Carbs again with new parts as appropriate.      I'm guessing the slides are interchangeable but can anyone help with the matching the slide profile with performance or engine specs?
much appreciated
Paul

The first number refers to the height of the cutaway, the bigger the number the higher the cutaway or more air in the mix. The smaller number refers to the position of where the accelerator pump activates on the throttle pull, there is a grove up the vertical axis on the slide and along this grove, there is a cam like lump that sticks out and activates the squirt. The problem with changing slides is that's only one bit that wears, the body of the carb wears as well. Your slides are not the std one for Laverdas, I think Pauls are. It's rare to change slides on Laverdas, there an expensive thing to change. By the way, this is all from memory so don't quote me.

I confirm, 60/2 are standard.

And 70 slides have a bigger cutaway (from memory they are mm heights 50=5mm, 60=6mm, 70=7mm), you will have trouble getting it to pick up from closed throttle with 70 in a triple, it would need much bigger idle jets to compensate and consequently too rich on idle. Grab those 60 slides, good price. Alas - too late.

As with the rest of the engine I will have to replace the guts of the carbs and bring it all back to standard ish as a start point .  Sorted slides from Wolfgang, excellent fellow, plus closer than Europe.
thanks for the help and education. 8)
