Tech Help For 75cc Laverda

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a 1954 Laverda 75cc Normale and am looking for some technical information.  Does anyone know the valve settings for this motorcycle?  Also, would anyone happen to have a wiring diagram?

Thank you!

William

Scott, I'd been wondering where I got my Lav 100 wiring diagram from, now I remember who sent it to me! Thanks :D :D :D

That's interesting Scott,

our 54 Normale has a coil/resistance fixed in the headlight, which I believed to be there to prevent excess voltage at high revs from blowing the headlight bulb.  All of our little uns have this, tho the 51 actually has two coils/resistances, and as it doesn't have any wiring at all, I have been wondering how they were originally connected.

JLO's website has several manuals for the little uns, but none with a wiring diagram.

Hi David,

Thank you so much for the post.  My Laverda 75 Normale is also equipped with a resistor and no battery.

Would you happen to know the correct valve settings?  When the valves should be opening and closing?

Thank you so much,

William

Hello William,
I'm working away from home and don't have everything scanned into my laptop, but next time I'm home I'll see what I have.
I don't remember any of the docos showing that sort of info, but somewhere in this LAVERDA community will be someone who knows.  It may just take a little time.

Bob - that is Non Egli Bob - built and ran a (very nice) 100 Corsa replica a couple of years ago in the GIRO, I imagine he may have info on valve timing.  You could try PM'ing him. As the 100's are I believe a development of the 75's, I would expect that timing would be close to them, tho state of tune and cams would have an effect as you would expect.

Hi Dabid,

Thanks again for the info.

To all:  My wiring is still a bit of a mystery.  All of the wires were cut or disconnected when I received the bike.  I can sort the basics to get power going to the coil to get spark.  Beyond that, I'm left scratching my head.

If anyone has a wiring diagram for a 75cc (the 100cc has considerable differences from the 75cc) it would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

William
