I was never much of a fan, until about 1990 when I got dragged along by my girlfriend to a stage show of his in Melbourne. I'm glad she talked me into it. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Very clever and funny.

Brilliant. Got into him after reading the cartoon series of Barry MacKenzie, from memory originally published in Private Eye.. Much better than the film.

The Barry Mac films were not that funny to me, Private Eye was edited by Peter Cook. That bloke was equally clever and funny. They both started the Meolbonre Comedy Festival together. At the core of Barry's parodies was the truth, we all have Arntys like Edna. Just her glasses were the perfect depiction of so typical a woman. And we all have Uncles like Less, maybe with slightly less druwl. None of it was unkind or humiliating. They will all be sadly missed.

Have seen him live several times over the years. Also built the stage props for 3 shows in Hong Kong. Even made a pair of glasses for Edna when she did a commercial for Cathay Pacific.
