Were there two Grand Finals over the weekend?
I don’t watch much NRL, but looked at a bit on the tv. Made me laugh.
You can hardly hear players on the ground and even the miked ref isn’t all that audible unless there’s a dispute.
But as players tackle into each other there is sometimes an audible “thump”. I say sometimes, because it doesn’t always happen, almost like it only happens when contact is almost a given.

And if there are two tacklers there’s two, and sometimes three thumps.
A quick side step sometimes gets its own thump too.
So to make the tv viewing exiting (added to the flames when a try is made) we have to listen to a badly timed thump at tackle.
Reminds me of the early days of radio cricket commentators tapping their pencil on the desk to broadcast the sound of something like a bat hitting the ball.
The rant is not at the game, or players, but at the broadcasters, who presume we are all stupidly gullible.
