The Aussie depository.....

Just talked to my daughter in Noo Yawwrrrk. She's celebrating her half-breed Australian status at an Australia Day barbie in a pub somewhere in Soho. Turns out she actually knows some Australians there and decided to celebrate with them. Forecast is for 4 feet of snow tomorrow (bit of an ironic climate contrast there).

And now the real bunfight begins with players suing the club and coaching staff?

I know nothing about this but it seems bloody unfair to me. Club says it ok, club Dr says it ok,Coach says its ok,  whats a player without a Chemical or Medical Degree going to do.

Things are crook at Tallarook!!! Pretty unfair considering the clubs rule every aspect of their playing group's lives; telling them what they can or can't eat, drink or root :o. Stuffed up a few innocent lives I reckon.

Coach said it was OK, Club directors kept in the dark as to what was being injected, and doctor kept in the dark twice (before he found out and after he found out and asked for it to stop and they started injecting the players offsite), club sports physio/scientist sacked when she didn't agree. No paperwork kept as to what was being injected into who and when.

WADA rules stipulate that the PLAYER is responsible for what he/she takes or injects. All banned substances are listed on the WADA website (including the drugs used at Essendon).

ASADA interviewed the players several times during the period they were being injected, all were asked what supplements they were using, none said they were getting supplement injections from Dank.

It was always going to end badly. WADA would not, and could not, sit back and accept the AFL whitewash of players.
You need to read the full release from the AFL after their initial investigation.

OK, the players are probably not the brightest crayons in the pack but all of them have sat through AFL induction meetings which explain in full what is acceptable under WADA rules.

Just shows what I know about VFL, thats what its called isn't it. Yep the whole bloody thing is ugly. How on earth did they think they could get away with it, so many people must have know something wast right

Thanks Davo, obviously I wasn't aware of all the facts, throws a different light on the whole saga.

[/quote]  Understatement of the decade !

Young boys full of testosterone aint gunna sit through any induction meeting and actually take the information on board when their minds are elsewhere  :o

Only a small minority have half a brain on their side.

Agreed they (players) were lead up the Garden path by a so called club legend who was trying to find an edge to better his win/ loss ratio.  :(
Very sad state of affairs , hope the ex coach loans all the banned players his Villa in France free of charge whilst on their 12 mnth hiatus  :D

If any of you are interested enough the 34 page initial AFL investigation results cane be found here:- http://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/EssendonFC-notice-of-charges.pdf

Makes for an interesting read.

The thick necks at Cronulla who were so upset at being called drug cheats when they admitted to the same injections from Dank must now be laughing. An effective 3 week ban for owning up compared to a complete season for crying innocent.

These boys are highly paid (by Aus standard) professional athletes, just like many of the same age around the world.
The "I'm just a young dumb footballer doing what he was told" doesn't cut it outside of insular, elitist  AFL land.........................
