I see the Cats are doing quite OK. :D
Correct Piet I forgot you were a cats supporter, its been a strange almost non season no games at all in Victoria "Corona Central, and as Pat said the grand final is being played in QLD the first time in history that is not been played in Victoria (the home of AFL)

Now you know how us AFL keen Queenslanders feel.

It's very rare to see any AFL on live to air TV here ....................... unless Brisbane or Gold Coast are playing.

Even while many games are being played in Qld ATM, an afternoon in front of the TV watching footy isn't on.
Rather, re-runs of some crap TV program from the 80's.

Seating for the GF is limited to 16,000 or so, yet you should hear the local radio reports about the AFL GF, most people are asking how much Queensland is spending on it, and that it's a waste of "our money". Really?

I think 1/1/1901 (Federation) is yet to sink into the minds of many Queenslanders. The 'us and them' mentality is still very much 'us'.

Looking from SA it seems that the eastern states are constantly bickering between themselves, bloody glad I moved to South Aus.
South Aus was declared coronvirus free yesterday, don't think we would want the GF here because somebody is bound to stuff things up.

When WA was a contender for the GF I was thinking fuck that. We in WA are traveling pretty good re: covid. No local transmissions for months and only a couple of cases from returned travelers who are quarantined. The majority of the state want the borders kept close so Clive Palmer can get fucked.

Probably a connection b/w rugbydom and the TV channels, Chris. Rugbyisters will resist AFL to the bitter end. They're such different games, you're either in one camp or the other. Don't quite get the complaining about cost - but pretty obvious which camp those complainers are from!

I doubt there'd be free entry into the state from 'foreigners' even if WA did host, Rob. Probably be just a WA crowd - which is a lot bigger than the Qld version for AFL!

Yeah, somebody should tell Jabba the Hutt that the toilet paper shelves in the supermarkets are full and there is no longer a need for yellow double paged ads in 'The Australian' newspaper.

Best thing to come out of the Covid pandemic was that we got a break from the usual media onslaught of football and thugby.  Unfortunately it couldn't last forever :(

The football coverage here has been about the same as always, a spot during the news, like: Sydney beat Hawks. Sydney 101 to Hawks 18.

But my current peeve is; 101 points or 18 points, gives no indication of the games make up. If it were 1:12:18 you would presume the Swans defense was great and the Hawks were kicking like they had chewy on their boots.

15:11:101 for the Mighty Swans suggests Swannies' goal kicking was on fire, as usual :D and they kicked a truckload of behinds too.

Bring back the full score, it's not all about total points. If I want to hear the full results, it's cause I missed the game.
