Hi what is the best battery to use as I have had several and they don't seem to last long. Also does a lithium battery work with the existing dynamo and voltage regulator? Thanks

Battery threads are becoming like oil threads. Many opinions the result of varied experience with quality of batteries. In my 750 I have used 19 amp battery, standard generator and original or electronic regulator. A good idea to check that charging is all good.

If they don't last long then why pay a lot? Yuasa have a battery for ride on mowers etc that works on a triple and doesn't cost the earth. Not sure it would fit the twin, you would have to check.

Running a Shorai lithium on my SF with a DVR4 electronic regulator (specifically DVR4N-12-11A). Lithium wouldn't have been my choice but fitted by previous owner. Works perfectly. Probably helps that the DVR4 sets dynamo output to 14.2v

BUT I strongly recommend you check charging voltage as Tippie says. In fact it is worth going further because the dynamo is usually neglected until it stops working. If you do nothing else at least replace the brushes and clean the commutator with alcohol to prevent sparking.

I wouldn't run an expensive battery with the original (now very old) mechanical regulator. Various reasons for this... I'll let Paul disagree!

Check charging and make sure you don't have a leak to earth.
Any battery will last many years on a 750.
Mine last between 7 and 10 years with little or no maintenance.
