The HORROR!!!

Hi everyone
Right up there with oil, shock absorbers, spindle orientation are the views held on tyres.  :D

Pirelli Sport Demons and Bridgestone BT45's seem to be held in the highest regard (as demonstrated in numerous past posts when using the forum search function).

Tonight I stumbled on Dunlop TT900GP

Has anyone given them go?

Cheers
Jason

Race compound. Gotta wonder how long they will last on the road.

But I am still wondering about the new compound TT100s - any news on them? They were a great tyre in the day but didn't last all that long, or maybe that was the way I rode .

S or H rated.  Be OK for a 180, but a bit low rated for a 120... :D  No 120 rear either.

I don't like dissing things without having first hand experience but it seems strange that you can a get a race tyre that is suitable for the road. The wildly differing operating temperatures means that a good road tyre is usually compromised on the track and vice versa.

Some of the race forums have very positive comments about the Dunlops  [for racing]. It's interesting that they're being marketed heavily in Oz, perhaps the higher ambient temperatures over there make them a feasible tyre for road use down under.
My race bike is road registered and I sometimes go out testing on the road with the Avon AM22 road tyres. They work well enough but they rarely get up to working temperature and I reckon a set of BT45s would probably work better on the road.

Perhaps Dunlop have developed something which provides the best of both worlds, I'd certainly like to try a set and see what they're  like.

Hi Bob
I don't know about these tyres being "heavily marketed in Oz". Buried in the company website and a post on Laverda Forum?  :P

Hadn't heard of them, hence the question. I'll try a couple of the retailers (I'm sure they'll be the best thing since sliced bread though.....)

Cheers

Davo. My brother Tim has a pair of the new TT100 tyres on his 3C. He said he likes the way the bike handles with them and has never had any bum clenching moments. But he's probably not putting them to extreme use - just normal road riding.

Cheers,
Cam

Should do for me (for a little while anyway) as I am not sure I want to chuck it down the road after the cost of getting it back there :o
