it is with great sadness that I find it my duty to tell you all that John Philip has died, he was found at his house a week ago where it is thought he had lain for some time. He had not riden at all since his last ride which ended with a crash in Austria on the way back from the 70th in breganze.

I am in contact with his daughter (Gill) who will let me know when funeral arrangemets are in place (South London) she is trying to arrange a motorcycle hearse for him, it was his wish that as many bikes as possible are at his funeral, so I urge anyone who knew him and anyone who didnt to try and make this a memorable send off for the sake of his three daughters, his two main motorcycling loves in his lifetime were Vincent and Laverda.

Me and some of the other BFN lads saw him go past a service station in Italy heading north after the Breganze meeting in 2019. He came a cropper shortly after that apparently although we didn't know it at the time. That was his last ride. RIP John,
 
I was doing a search on shock replacements and arrived at Access Norton and had a look around. I found among the usual Bike Forum categories a Memorium section for past members. I suppose we all are heading that way, so get out on your bikes as often as you can. RIP Mr Duffer, bet you loved that last big bike ride.
 
Sorry to hear that Clem and my sincere condolences I remember chatting to John in Breganze in 2019 and it was interesting to hear about his Vincents, when I asked him how did he start them he really gave it to me!!!
How old was he Clem?
 
it depends who you believe Mo, until 3 years ago he was 5 years older than he actually was, 3 years later he is 2 years younger than he thought he was, as told to me by his daughter Gill, I lost the plot a bit but I think he was 83 last birthday not 88 as he would have you believe, might be a year out tho' he never rode again after the Austria crash in 2019 returning from the 70th, I think his Anni is in the same crashed state in the same spot I parked it after I unloaded it from its courier transport home.

I can now confirm the arrangements/details for Dads Funeral.



It will be at Falconwood/Eltham Crematorium (Crown Woods Way, London SE9 2AZ), on Tuesday 27 September at 13:00.



The hearse will be leaving Sidcup Rugby Club (Crescent Farm, Sydney Road DA14 6RA ) at 12:00 to take dad to the Crematorium. We would like it if there could be a motorcycle escort (any make or vintage), so the club have agreed that they will provide tea & coffee from about 11:30. (Cars are welcome also, or can go straight to the Crem).



After the service, we will return to the Rugby Club.
