The road from Omeo to Bright in NSW

We just came through the mountains from Omeo to Bright today and I had to post on what a great drive it was. I only wish I was on a bike! Or rather I was glad I was in a car today: it was raining and got down to 5* in dense fog at the summit. But the road surface was smooth and unmarked with tar or patches, the road was wide and well signed. And the curves were fantastic, I can only imagine how much fun it would be on a proper machine.

In my lifetime I’ve been on some great ones: from California and the American Pacific coast and Sierra Nevadas to the Swiss Alps and the hills above the Italian lakes and this one was right up there with the best. And we were able to finish up in Bright at the Craft Brewery with beer flights and snacks!

Big mob of Vicco’s be in Whitfield this W/end.
Spaghetti Rally (Moto Guzzi Club) also close by this w/end too. Worth a look if your still in the area….?

It's so good but exhausting. Just like the Moto GP bunch it helps to get into a rhythm.
I hear that! I always try to ride at The Pace, which I learned years ago. Rolling on and off the throttle, always staying in lane and rarely braking. Of course, it helps immensely to have a Laverda with strong engine braking and lots of low down grunt!

100%, plus it's huge fun with way less risk to your License not to mention your wallet and that's really important.

Strangely enough I’ve only done those roads on a bicycle. They’re fab on anything with two wheels. Somewhat harder work with pedals but extremely rewarding. The SFQ will definitely be called upon up that way in the near future.

local plod used to leave Bright in his slush mobile late in the afternoon, for a hoon up the mountains, picking off the descending riders and or drivers, when we went down that road they were just laying boulders for base material, ton of fun on a Jota bouncing up and down and off the boulders, they did not close the road off, bless their cotton earth moving equipment... as Vince said, one of few roads that tax your stamina with curve after curve...j
