You forgot the lump hammer and crowbar, Haggis! Guess the pipe wrench dpoubles as a hammer in many cases.
They don't realise there is a correct/easy way of doing it... they should just simply stay away.

I have seen much worse than this on the stater clutch. The first 750 I owned, the previous owner never lubed the starter clutch (early three spring model) so it was taken off all the time to try and make it work. They also did not own a puller so would smack it with a steel hammer. They also had another 750 I bought where they had broken off the end of the crank shaft trying to remove it!

What should the end float be? I could not find a dimension in the Green Book!

From memory at least half a millimetre. It is vital so that it cannot bite and spin the starter motor to destruction.

Tach is most likely from a CB 350/360 or 450, judging by size.
Redline CB 500/550, starts at 9150 rpm.

Seller is known for mixing up parts/bikes and having not really a clue what he is selling nor what realistic prices are.

Had this happen once. Removed all stuff that had built up on the surfaces.
And grinded it in with valve grinding paste. Remember that the
freewheel is held onto the crank by the cone seat. The key is only for positioning it.
