OK, I've deleted my post. I admit that it was not in good taste even though I didn't identify the person I was describing. Not that I could have offended her anyway because she passed away due to her serious health issues before I left the company 17 years ago.
At least I didn't connect the unflattering description to named living people like you guys.
I wish I'd never posted that anecdote. My apologies to all.

... we have had good experiences with sending large packages into UK. But you should have a packed lunch with you that is enough for 2-3 days.

Paul, I would put a large sticker on the outside your box "Live animals for laboratory tests" that is guaranteed not to be checked by customs officers, they always look the other way by such things.
In addition, you avoid the suspicion that you are secretly trying to illegally import dog sausages or other urgently needed delicacies.
