Had couple of visits to Thorne Engineering - (who have the old slaters stock) Very convenient for me as they are only 8 miles from where I live in York ( In Wheldrake)
I had earlier asked the question whether the inlet and exhaust cams for the 500 are the same apart for the drilling for the TACHO drive
Well I have the two side by side and after measurement they appear identical in form and length. camshafts are numbered 14 as per the laverdamania site reference.
Thorne have several inlet camshafts for the 500's on the shelf.Just if someone is looking for an exhaust camshaft ( the one that seems to fail regularly) it may be an option to use the inlet.
They also have pairs of the (6) numbered camshafts for the 350 models. It may be common knowledge - but the cam lobe spacing on the 350 camshafts is different to the 500 due to the difference in valve sizes.
Rowan Bell who is looking after the stock is still trying to identify some parts that have either wrong part numbers or no part numbers.
I am sure slaters knew what everything was just by looking at the pieces but to the untrained eye.... the job is quite difficult.
So if looking for a part a photograph may help as well as the part number and a description if you enquire to Rowan.
