Thread lock on Crank threads Primary side

Is the lock washer fold good enough or should I also add thread lock when assembling the Primary chain?

I have never relied on either to stop it loosening, just the massive torque it needs. The lock washer will not save the splines on the crank if there is insufficient torque and the nut loosens even a little, but it will stop the nut from walking off into the side cover. I am not sure if thread lock (Loctite) will save from insufficient torque.

I always apply a drop as an added precaution... ya never know. It does no harm, so why not? It's not that removal is easy to begin with, a little extra effort isn't going to drive anybody nuts. ;)

I learnt the lesson the hard way not to put too much faith in lock washers.

When the lock washer on the alternator of my first Beveldrive Ducraapi did nothing to stop the 'never-previously-disturbed' retaining nut from coming loose ...

With the result that the rotor gouged a lump out of the crankshaft around the Woodruff key slot.

Great. Just f***ing great.
