Still think it came from the dealer (Eades) with the large collector, the mufflers also had the four holes as on a Corsa.

Maybe Terry, but certainly not from the factory.  If the factory had given it just a little more thought, they may even have come up with a more elegant solution than biting 4 unevenly spaced holes in the end cap with a blunt drill... only the 1000SFC and RGS Corsa were violated in this manner.  Even these were fitted with the same collector as the stock RGS, only painted black instead of chromed.

Lots and lots of dyno pulls have confirmed that the "Jota" collectors are contra-productive on stock 120? engines.  It's all about the even firing/exhaust pulses.

G'day Piet,
Think I got my models mixed up SFC1000 instead of Corsa, mine definitely came with the four holes, doesn't matter though, they were junked over twenty years ago.

Terry can still remember seeing Norm attacking RGS mufflers with his drill back in the day.. it was part of his "pre delivery process "....................if your bike did have a big bore when you got it off Eade then my money would be on Norm and Max changing it out...
I still have the original collector that came with the Corsa ( though it is well and truely unusable but hey wont be tossing it out trust me... ) and it was a smaller pressed steel one. .It rusted out shame they didnt have anti corrosion warranty back in the day.

Am definitely with Piet there the bigger collectors don't work nearly as good on the 120's
its all to do with the pulses and scavenging effect... bet you find that you use less oil too now.

The first set of mufflers rusted out so I bought Dan Fahy's set (he fitted a three into one), he had them sitting in oil so the first run did indeed generate a lot of smoke :D. Had a bit of a faux pas so went down the Hume to Mittagong and got Staintune to make me a nice set of pipes.
Not using much oil Maurice, not like when I was in the Navy where everything was tuned for maximum smoke.
Yeah Dellortoman, send me some holes, can never have too many holes. Could you also send me a bucket of steam from the fog locker? ;)
