Tips for racing a Jota

It took donkeys years to get rid of the dreaded weekend 'Fuel Roster' and early saturday closing for the shops in WA, let alone sort out a race track.

That fuel roster was still running in 1991 when I visited Perth for the first time, can't believe it took till 1995 to end.

Living down here I never get to the race meets so it really makes no difference to me whatever they do.
Has been talked about extending Collie but they've been talking about that for 8 years, last time I was there.
Too bad they can't bring back "round the houses" racing in some of the rural towns like they did back in the 70s.
They were great weekends of racing with a variety of tracks to compete on.
Hope they do sort out Wanneroo, an extra couple of kays wouldn't go astray either!!
I read how one of those deaths happened and it had nothing to do with the circuit - rider fell and was hit by the following bike. Hard to imagine that circuit claiming lives (having raced it many times, in both directions). Round the Houses ... my drum brake SF at Bunbury ... just couldn't quite get into a fast groove there! And on a bike with three times the HP??? Freaky thought, that!
Wanneroo was built on a sandpit so the runoff areas seemed pretty safe to me (having explored the scrub and sand beyond The Basin in reverse direction at 170+ when Errol Tilbrook threw his Rickman Yoshi Kwaka away under brakes 3m in front of me). But I'm pretty amazed it's ever been developed beyond what i raced on in the 70s!!

The issue at Barbagallo is hard barriers designed to stop cars but the press attribute every accident to the circuit, rather ignoring the fact we're hiring round on a 200hp rocket - they just see 'motorcycle'. We're hopeful we'll be back next year, although it's not confirmed yet.

Yah! Have shit before mounting 2 wheels and don't get over confident - Shit Happens ;o)

Haha now I get the reference, absolutely, generally two shits on raceday morning ;)

Shit also happens on track, all the time.

A racer is a chaser studying anyone in front taking the opportunity to pass - Whether 1st over the Finish Line or not - It's a race and you survive.

Sometimes you're King but most often you to contend with shit and fortunate to be alive!

Can't say what it takes to be Racer. There's just something special to be one. I considered myself rather good and quit when I was 38, got married and raised 6 kids - Haven't raced scense - She's gone and now I'm too old.

Amen

I'm not saying a Breganzie is not fast but fast enough to win if you are a persistent racer - Unfortunately they are no old school mechanic's today and you have to her keeper.
