Sad passing on Wednesday of Hugh Keays-Byrne, the actor who played the Toecutter in the first Mad Max movie.
RIP Hugh, hope the Nightrider has a cool ale waiting for you.

The Knightrider and the Toecutter...

Remember them both when you look at the night sky.

Hugh,  Cundalini, Johnny, Fifi, Roop and many other signed my mannequin at the 25th year anniversary charity dinner...

Fucking funny stories from that night. I won the mannequin auction at around 950 bucks. God bless bottles of Twisto bikie juice (red wine)

She's mine!

That is a great story John,
I think you should bring her out to the next BBQ or such.
Surely your not going to keep her all to yourself.

:) :)

Look to the night sky.

She is not what she seems,we have it on good authority, she comes from the Bronze, full of treachery, the Bronze, they take our pride..Bring her to the next outing so we can verify her intentions...

"Do yourself a fucking favour and put your phone down"

Compliments of Sasha, who just coincidently does a dam fine impression of our friend....

Bit of trivia for you,John Miller (George Miller?s older brother)was my family doctor for over 10 years before he retired at 82 and moved to the Gold Coast 4 years ago,yes we talked about Mad Max and how George?s imagination developed so different to his siblings from an early age.

This is cundalini, he wants his hand back.

Great actor, was also in fury road, as well as stone.  Rip

A roadrace sidecar crew here in the 80's used to carry a prop hand everywhere with them. If asked they said it was Cundalini's.
Mad as snakes the pair of them. One at least had been an extra on the film. Both had spent time working in Aussie.

Somethings will live on forever or at the very least they will outlive this Laverda community (and yes there was screen time for a Laverda in the Mad Max movie, gotta be quick).
My 13-year-old grandson doesn't know a word of Shakespear but the little shit knows every line the 'Toecutter' spoke in the movie and the mannerisms (could be a problem there). More of a concern is his 15-year-old sister who responds to him with the lines from the movie and has the Toecutters 'stare' perfected, scary. I take no responsibility for this behavior but be warned if you drop your kids off for babysitting at my house you watch 'Gramps' movies non of the sissy Disney stuff. Wills my granddaughter after watching 'Stone' (Mad Max prequel) more than once doesn't want a car when she gets her driver's license she wants a Norton, her mother wants to kill me.

Toecutter  "Man what a strange weird trip it's been" RIP mate.

I'll venture to say that Hugh Keays-Byrne's 'Toecutter' was more responsible for the success of Mad Max than Mel Gibson's Max and, by extension, much of Gibson's subsequent career success.

If you ever are in Gladesville, Sydney drop in to Chris Lewis Jewellery... you see the familiar  of Emil Minty (the Feral Kid) and he loves talking MM and has an XB coupe so he is living the dream...

I remember in the early eighties at work if you passed a mate in the corridor you either said " check those corners " (aliens ?) or "Christ, they're heading  for population !" MM

I've cycled the roads where MM was filmed - not that far from Melbourne. We've educated our kids with a viewing of the original MM - a memorable one is the bridge where Max chained the punk to the overturned car with the dripping fuel. I love the tales behind the making of - getting the local cops involved, basically highly illegal stunt driving on public roads. Kwaka 9's, bikini fairings and legend!

And a guest appearance from a Laverda triple..... ;) that legend still lives and breathes 76 3cl with a la- parissiane fairing. Now residing in my shed minus the fairing, but still carving up the bitch o mine  :D

More opinion than proof, but it does seem as though the experiences of our 'formative' years stay with you forever. Back in the Stone days I think I was at NSW Uni. and already riding. Frankly, I don't think I've changed too much since.

Saw the movie first run when I was eleven and walked out of the theater blow away by the wide expanses of Australia, loud & fast cafe motorcycles and Toecutter! He really made the movie something special & brought an amazing depth and charisma to that psychotic character! BTW, the original was set in Melbourne in 2021!
