Tool Tray

The simplest of questions .... what is the material that the tool tray is made of?
My 77 (78) triple's tray needs repair / reinforcement before it dies completely and before I start trialing goop, I thought I'd ask.
It doesn't appear to be a thermo-plastic the way it wears, could it be a resin?

 
Little point restoring it.
Fit a new carbon one for a bit of bling.
 
I can't help you with repair advice but as Grant says ...... Boba makes a carbon fiber replacement that sells for Euro 50.

Wouldn't I love some of Boba's bits ... but would start with a tank, front guard etc., and even then there's no joy in tooling around in the shed if you can't fabricate or fix something with available 'spares'.
Thanks for the suggestions but it looks like (for the moment) I'll try a few glues / resins and see if anything sticks.
It would be so easy to lay-up a piece of glass and some epoxy or polyester just to reinforce the bottom ... that might be the go, just resin the tray from inside and it won't matter if it doesn't stick but would hold it's shape - DONE.

Maybe. Will let you know.
 
I only make the tool tray for the 750 , which is a far more complicated affair ,

Hi Mate.  Try this link for some glue options.  It comes in quite hand for some of the materials I have to stick to metal in my work.  And most glues don?t like metal for long periods of adhesion. So you should find something that will work on the tool tray.

It looks like polypropylene might be right on the money .. which means an epoxy resin has a good chance! (thanks 'chrisk')

Adequate but minimal adhesion from polyester resin, sufficient to line the tray with some 6oz mat and get the necessary reinforcement where there are fractures. Assuming that there is no torsion I expect that it will last for a while. Epoxies are generally the better choice.
