Torque settings

There's not much in the way of settings in the 1000/1200 workshop manual - head and crankcase nuts is about it from memory

I use the RGS workshop manual as a guide...obviously check bolt sizes to be sure you're looking at the correct item.

As has been repeatedly posted, do not follow all the printed head torque figures - I use 27 ft lb for the cylinder head nuts (or 25 on a bike that is unknown to me) and 18 ft lb for the outer camshaft bearing nuts.

Information from the german Laverda-Forum from "Thorsten":

"According to the manual for the 180 ° (original Laverda), the head screws - a total of 12 pieces - should have a tightening torque of 40 Nm (in increments of 20, 30, 40). The M8 nuts of the stud bolts of the rear camshaft brackets should be 35 Nm, but the Laverdagemeinde agrees: the M8 nuts should not be higher than the tightening torque of 20 Nm intended for the M8.

The 120 ° receive a maximum of 45 Nm on the head screws."

Thanks, cylinder & camshafts are one thing - what about the rest of the bike? Must admit since having a Ducati, where a torque value is stated for even the smallest screw, I have become paranoid :) . Like a lot of people on this thread, in days gone by, tight was tight and loose was because you didn't tighten the fixing enough

...and make sure you only use really good and accurate torque wrenches. See the thread "Torque wrenches lie!"...

If you are in doubt, you can send me yours (to Germany), I'll check them and set them to where you want them to be accurate and send them back, just at shipping costs. ;-)
