Track Day Action

I guess Wayne Gardner owes a lot to you from studying your style in that Castrol event. 👍
Incidentally, Wayne’s a month younger than me, but he got a jump start of 6 years on my racing career. Probably why he ended up World Champ and I didn’t….😜
 
I gave the old girl a bit of a thrashing at our Manfeild track on Saturday. Fantastic organisation and well attended. Interesting track with every corner banked, although the turn 5 hairpin gave me some trouble until I sought some advice from the locals- good bunch 😁
Mostly new bikes as you’d expect but a few ‘classics’ and lots of different aged and skilled riders, and more than a few women 👍. Shame it rained heavily just after lunch! Oh well, got a couple of good sessions in on a different track 👍

Bike ran perfectly, but I’ve GOT to do something about that clutch slip at high revs!
 
Saw your bike I think on a trailer parked by lake whakamaru when I drove past on Friday was going to stop but on my way to work if you come back the same way would love to get the jota out to catchup small country live close to whakamaru

Yep, that was me. It hurt every km to be towing it instead of riding, but easier to organise 👍
Good part of the country for riding, I’ll let you know next time I go through 😎

My go-to for suspension testing is 4/2-litre bottles of water in the panniers, it makes a huge difference. Easy to tip it out and your back to std weight. Probably not race-track-approved.
 
No, I tried using 2/ 20kg bags of crushed granite and a 20kg bag of Top Dressing soil as well as those panniers with the water bottles and my lardy arse sitting on it to bottom the Atlas shock so I could measure full travel and check chain tension. It didn't work, it was just too unstable and dangerous with me bending over to see the effect. I did use all that to repair my driveway though. The best test was me and my slightly less lardy brother both sitting on it finally did the trick or close enough, the chain was getting slightly tight so got backed off 1 click. So that load was me at 120kg, 100kg for my brother and 16kg of water bottles totalling 236kg. And even then it wasn't fully bottomed, its never getting a load like that on any rides I do.
