Travels in western Canada

Hi all

recently spent several days based out of Kaslo British Columbia, riding many of the interesting motorcycle roads in central B.C.. Kaslo to New Denver. New Denver to Nakusp. Nakusp to Revelstoke. Kaslo to Nelson. Several more enthusiast roads, Balfour, Lardeau, etc., various ferries.

A number of former Laverda rally attendees congregated in Kaslo, organized by Andy Higgs. We are all getting older, but still enthusiastic. Going to do it again next year.

A bunch of us by arrangement stopped in on Wolfgang and Margot in Nakusp. Then we all went to lunch with Wolfgang and Margot at the Leland Hotel in downtown Nakusp right on the lake. The Haerter's seem to be doing well. Wolfgang has added a storage container beside his parts storage. Doing various home improvements including concrete and pavers. I recently turned 71. Wolfgang is just turning 72. Says he is slowing down, but no apparent signs visible as he has lots of projects on the go.

Margot surprised everyone at the end of our visit by saying we should all do another Laverda rally, then quickly added, not to be organized by her.........

while ripping around the Nakusp/Kaslo area, nice memories of prior Aussie visitors, Steve B and Marty Moose. Been a while now. Also observed various wildlife, a couple of black bears, some deer, and some very aggressive wild turkeys, big bloody things that stand their ground on the road, usually in tight corners.

Paul: Bad timing...I returned about ten days ago from hanging out with some of my no good
buddies at Toad Rock. A good friend from Kaslo passed very quickly about a year back so that
entire area is well known and loved. I am planning to visit Wolf & Margot in the fall. Before the
upcoming Moto Giro put on by your Calgary crew perhaps a visit to the Vintage and Collectable
show where your Gilera would be appreciated is on August 31st in Peachland (Penticton) area.
