Triple Oil choice

Ok, as I've been out of the Laverda game for quite a while, what's the current oil of choice folk are using / recommend to put into their triples?

I'm in the UK, so this will have a bearing on what's available.

Thanks.

Yeah - an oil-thread... expect 100s of pages on this topic... :D

My personal take: https://www.motul.com/de/de/products/3000-4t-20w50--2

4 Liter are just enough for an oil-change plus some top-up until the next oil change...

I would also consider to install a 2nd Filter between the oil-line to the cooler and the cooler itself. This will allow for oil-changes every 5.000km and will keep the oil much clearer for longer.

Yes the Morris. Weirdly it is cheaper on ebay per 25l drum than you can buy from the maker direct..even with a club(iloc) discount. Did call them about that as would have preferred to buy from Morris, but no satisfactory answer and the ebay stuff seems genuine! My xt500 and bmw r1200st all do just fine on it as does the Jota.

Morris oil 20/50, Halford classic green tin.
Run what they were developed with.
Good place to live Cheshire I'm in between crewe and nantwich.
Regards Andy 😁

Morris's V Twin 20/50 gets my vote.

Run it in my race and road bikes.

Looking on eBay, Morris do a Golden Film Classic  20W50, which they say is suitable for motorcycles. They say it's a low dispersant oil? Is this good for Laverdas??

Hi Andy, yes your pretty local to me, being nearby in Macclesfield. Did you mean Halfords do a green tin of 20/50 or is that car oil?

Regards Richard

I used about any brand of Conventional Heavy Duty DINO (Non Synthetic) 15w-40 Diesel Oil in my 70 750SF0 twin for 45 years without issues.

Chevron, AC Delco, Duron (recommended), Mobil Delvac, Shell... etc

hi Richard, yes I use the Halford classic 20/50 or Morris golden never had any problems. Change it every 1000 miles.
First Wednesday in the month we (guzzi club) meet up at the crown and thistle at Kidsgrove.

any 20-50 preferably with a capability to be used in diesels.
for a long time I used Esso HDX30 which was originating from the local bus garage, 25 gallons later and all seemed fine, then they moved the bus garage, and back to 20-50 diesel car oil from the local factor, currently Fuchs, but that changes.

Oil threads, eh?  Isnt the big difference here between low and  high detergent? The old castrol or Golden are low?  High is fine if you have a good clean engine I thought, but otherwise you might get a load of shite circulating?  I claim no expertese, just to be clear!
