Triple wheels question

Only disc/drum combination on twins and triples.

Disc/disc wire wheels on SFC750 only (and the wannabe SFC 1000... :D).

There has been a bit of talk about substitute reas wheels with wires and disc on the forum of late, so I wont repeat any of it here except to say that there are a lot of options if you can do a little machining.

However, I concur that Wolfgang is the chap if you want to buy a new setup.

a) no triple wheels, only two on a motorcycle  :D

b) I think 750 SFC type rear hubs are available in aluminium, the originals were magnesium of course.

Laverda Paradise sell Magnesium.
Wolfgang sells Aluminium.

Both can supply the rest of the gear (spokes, hub) as a package.

I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is that the Magnesium is prone to cracking with high usage.
Also, Wolfgang is a better price.

Wow! Did Wolfgang have them made up as replicas in alu?

Certainly the mag factory hubs were fragile - I bought one that had been painted black to protect from UV, but never mounted it. Turn out it came from a Canadian guy's SFC, that is now in the hands of one ... Wolfgang Haerter (minus Rr wheel!!). I swapped the hub, drive & sprockets to someone here for a complete SF3 clutch, gearbox, selector setup ... and I'm very happy! I use a Kwaka Z1000 Rr disc hub but they seem to be rarer that molars on a chook these days.

Magnesium ages particularly if submitted to UV.
I don't think Wolfgang had the rear hubs in aluminium made. Refabricated parts like that are often a collective effort between various dealers because of high initial outlay and slow turnover.
If it's like the front hubs, the rear originate in Italy in the hills above Breganze.

Thanks everyone, ya'll have been a wealth of knowledge and a tremendous help. I'll get up with Wolfgang on this and a ton of other parts I need for the '71 and 1200 spares, and keep on searching for the ever elusive cast wheels.

ciao
