unsprung weight.

The USA and Canadian Border is one of the last free frontiers and I assume the same exists between NZ and Australia.

Very interesting but what has that to do with un sprung weight. :D

If I'm going to be in Montana this summer, I need to update my passport. A passport between Canadian's and American's was unnecessary before 9/11.

As a matter of fact before 9/11 neither of us needed a Passport to cross our border.

What Border established in 1813 at the battle of Stoney Creek were British Loylists defeated the Yankee's: Hence the USA/Canadian 49th Parallel and defining our Nations on the fight for the North American Continent and St Patrick X was even on the Jack although starving Irish where deported by the thousands to North America.

I'm North American - NOT American - I'm Irish Canadian and my heritage has nothing to do with the principles of Un-Spung Weight!.

Umm, i think it might actually, Irish you say....well known for being unsprung.

You're God Dam right I'm Un-Sprung Irish Canadian and still have the Balls to ride a motorcycle as well as you can, in spite of my age - Especially when I got nothing left to loose.

Been there, did it - What's left except for disposable Un-Sprung Weight -  I"m just a racer and nobody other then Joey Dunlop is in front of me.

Really who gives the fuck about un-suspended weight when your suspension bottoms out - You're on your own and that goes for your valves too.

I don't ride that hard today - As I'm just too OLD and don't know nothing about Motorcycles and am getting tired of being the forum muse.

Hmmm, makes me wonder ............ why aren't there parking lots full of R1's, and the like, outside Nursing homes?

I did attend a Rule PSS #1 Public School and I'm getting wary of entertaining people like you plus I probably do belong in a nursing home but: I still ride a Breganze.

In case you didn't get it - You and your capability as being a proficient Motorcyclist's is the Sprung Weight ;o)

Suspension of the Un-Sprung Weight, whether or not there is a spring, is the matter of this Topic (Hence why referred to the Ducati DESMO Valve train).

I might have that concept backwards as I'm dyslexic and open to persuasion as to what defines Un-Sprung Weight Vs Sprung Weight. Each and all us probably perceive Un-Sprung Weight differently but in the long run, inherently as Motorcyclists in this forum probably know and experienced what it's all about - Specifically when you bottom out.

Here's WikipediA's Definition of Un-Sprung Mass:
In a ground vehicle with a suspension, the unsprung weight (or the unsprung mass) is the mass of the suspension, wheels or tracks (as applicable), and other components directly connected to them, rather than supported by the suspension. (The mass of the body and other components supported by the suspension is the sprung mass.)

I realize now about me joking about being Un-Sprung was misleading the theory and sorry for the confusion as I kinda got carried away with your responses.

By all means the lighter and stronger the Un-Sprung Weight of a Suspension is the more Efficient it is, until it bottoms out, in which case you the rider becomes completely Un-Sprung and your on your own - LOL

Great to see you absorbing the flack SF.....its got everyone off my back for a couple of days  :D :D
