Upgrading a Triple's Clocks

I've been moving toward fitting a Suzuki front wheel to my Mirage 1200TS. This requires some fair bit of machining for which I have no capability.  I've been thinking of just chucking the effort to maintain originality in favor of modern, accurate clocks.  So, who has fitted Acewell instruments to a Triple? Something else along those lines?  Is there a DYI article anywhere that would lead me through the project?
TIA

Hello Lawrence,

If you are in the UK these guys stock stuff that might help. I noticed them at a bike show last year and and thought some of the round dials looked quite suitable for our old clonkers.

I have fitted an Acewell to my SF2. Have not tested it on the road as it is not yet riding weather. I?d been using a bicycle speedo, no tacho and a speedo that was useless due to the 17" wheel. The display is really easy to read, setup and mounting of the various bits was a breeze and wiring it up was too. I would like to hide it behind a small handlebar fairing as it isn?t pretty from the front. I?ll save my genuine instruments for when they are done up and I want it to look standard.

I fitted an acewell, 3 years ago, you're right it ain't pretty but it is superb value for money and has a lot of features, that are a  blessing.... Voltage, and acurate speed are the biggest ones. After calibrating the speedo to the rolling circumferance of the wheel, I now find myself, calibrating it on the move, to match the sat nav and having possibly one the most accurate speedos short of being a Road Traffic copper.

Didn't stop be getting stopped last weeks by one. He checked the tyre temperature, tax and speedo and sent me on my way. I was feeling very lucky  :-[

The instruction are very straightforward, I still have them if you want a scan before you buy.  Of course there are lots of models now and probably updated versions. What is it you're concerned about ?

What the hell was he checking your tyre temperatures for, and what with?

With his hand.... he was looking at the tyres and said or started to say, clearly you can handle ! when I interjected and said,,nooooo I was on the track last week, I havent done that to the tyres on the road  :o

any copper looking at rob's tires be suspicious of how they got worn so far over
well beyond what mortals can do on the street  :D

There are more options available than I ever dreamed.  Just a question of how much one has to spend I guess. Don't know how I missed Keith's wonderful Yamaha make over.  That is just stunning!
