Using an iPhone 6 to check the Forum

Been down the coast with dodgy internet, but could manage one bar of 4G, no laptop wifi available unless I hotspot. When i use my old iPhone 6 I'm constantly getting pop-ups that Cookies are used and I must accept, which I do, but they keep popping up - worse than that, I can't log in - just get the Cookies message. Anyone have the same issues and/or know of a fix? I'm constrained to read as a Guest only.

Rob, the old site never gave me probs, just wondering if I can remedy it.

I, occasionally, look at the Forum with my iPhone 6 and have never had any cookie pop-ups. Check your settings or use a private browser like Duck Duck Go and see if that cures your problem.

On several sites including this forum I get the question to accept cookies before logging in, but I just log in without accepting, doesn't seem to make any difference. On other places you can't do anything without accepting. My iPhone 5 has no trouble logging in. Admin, should it have any bearing?

Can only suggest that you try clearing cookies and cache on your iPhone browser. Also navigate direct to the forum url laverdaforum.com/xf

Failing that, try a different browser as Hamish suggests.

There is no technical reason at the server end for the issues you describe. I'm not an Apple eater, but according to my offspring, iPhone 8 works OK using Safari as does an ipad2.

The cookies dialogue box does need to be accepted in order to log in

You're right Sami - issue now resolved. Thanks for spotting that. The root .htaccess file was redirecting everything else OK which is why I hadn't identified the problem...it was originally written to redirect all until an addition in the /xf subdirectory threw a spanner into the plan!

@piranha-bro2 - please let me know if you encounter continued problems

Thanks for the replies. Rob, When I open the Forum it has the 'accept cookies' window at the bottom of the screen. i click 'accept' and then 'Log In', but I then get a window at the top 'Oops! We ran into some problems. Cookies are required to use this site. You must accept them to continue using the site'.
I'll try clearing cookies and cache. I'll alsi try typing the web address with the 's' directly into the menu rather than relying on a link - once it works I'll Bookmark it. Will keep you posted. thanks Rob.
