Valve Lash Tolerance

I understand the OEM recommendations for the valve lash on the triples to be .20mm & .25mm for intake and exhaust, respectively.  Shims are not typically available in .01mm increments, so what is a reasonable fudge factor?  Would that factor be the same for all valves?  Would camshaft grind be a factor?

If you want them spot on..... give them a rub down on some wet n dry ! Or get you local engineering shop to take a whisker off the shim .

I use a diamond stone/oil and a centre punch in the dimple to run the shim up and down the stone. 0,01, 0.02 piece of piss

Using a tool like a punch to rub the shims up and down is a good idea. A few years ago I did a bunch of them on an oil stone, but I used my finger to shove them around on the stone. After a couple of hours the tip of my finger was completely numb. Took about a week for the feeling to come back.

I can do no more than refer to Piet's post on the subject -

Factory tolerances are 0.20-0.25 for inlet, 0.25-0.30 for exhaust.
