Valve shims

Surely Laverda must have used an existing car shim back in the day? I can remember Hesketh having shims made at great expense only to find out the motor was designed using British Leyand shims. I once saw a GS1000 that spat an exhaust shim straight through the head leaving a letter box shaped hole.
That's why shim under bucket setups are preferred. The biggest lift you can safely use on the Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha shim on top is .418in.

Dunno why ya trying to re invent the wheel…… 7mm shims in plentiful supply from supplier in Aus! Precision Shims. 👍
Yeah, maybe. I’ve got about half a million shims less than 2.00mm, absolutely useless for me. For overhauling heads you need 2,60 upwards, in very short supply here. I have since commissioned a small batch for myself.

Buy them in sizes from 2.7 up to 3.2mm
As Piet stated, have hundreds of shims going from 2.6 and down, no use at all when reconditioning cylinder heads

Precision Shims are awesome, order 90 shims on Monday, arrive Thursday, in increments of 0.02mm
