Are you talking about a spring compressor or a gadget for testing spring strength?
If you mean a spring compressor, I just use a generic valve spring compressor which works OK on most cylinder heads. Certainly fits a Laverda triple head. Only ever had one head that it wouldn't reach around (can't remember what sort of head it was though).
Hey Ron, I'd have thought a tough old bugger like you would do it with nothing more than your fingers. One hand to squeeze the valve spring and the other hand to flick the collets out.
Done. Set it on the drill press table, chocked and centered as required. Pulled the press down (off, of course!) against an oxygen sensor socket (they're cut to go over the sensor wires) pushing on the spring cap, compressed the springs and pulled the collets with a magnet. Easy peasey.
