Valve steam seal 7mm and 8mm.

Hello.

Do all cylinder heads have valve steam seals?

Why there are 7 and 8mm?

When I was dismantling the cylinder head of my Laverda 750 1971/72 there were no valve steam seals in it.

Now I have bought 4 pieces of 7 mm seals and I dont thing they fit.

On the Laverda Paradies page/catalog I have seen that there is only valve steam seal on the inlet valve, the outlet is without it.

So need some help around that :)

Not all 750 heads have stem seals. They were later fitted to the inlets only. Cooking 750 has 8mm, SFC has 7mm. All triples have 7mm, again, inlets only. 4-Valvers have 6mm on inlet and exhaust.

I have 7 and 8mm seals in stock.

My 1973 SF1 had no seals (8mm as mentioned) and never seemed to require them - they did huge miles and were still good when i swapped them out. If your guides are still in good nick, you may not need anything more than valves (inlet more likely worn on the face than exhaust) - and maybe not even that. SF2 had 8mm and inlet seals only.

I converted my top end to SFC cam and valves, 7mm, seals on both inlet and exhaust(?) - from memory I omitted the exhaust seals without problem. SFQ I bought special bronze blanks from Red and machined my own - seals on all four.
