when I had my transplant I was told I woud be in hospital for three weeks, I went home after six days, on a parol board weekend pass, to return on the Monday morning or sooner if any thing untoward, I returned on the Monday on my Pan, they never knew as helmet and leathers were all in the hard luggage, until a nurse spotted me looking out of the 6th floor ward window, by pure luck I could see the Pan parked on the no mans land between pathway and a multi story car park, she said very little until the doctors meeting a two days later, I was told I could go home permanently, and this nurse then asked how I would be getting home, and I fessed up, the nurse then said "is that wise", the lady doctor that had been caring for me post op asked the nurse "do you ride motorcyles" and she replied that she did not, the doctor then said to her that "well I think it best if we leave that decision up to Mr Clemans"

nt stricly good advice, I think, since after a general anaesthetic lasting a good few hours, the advice is not to drive for six weeks, that is Paul M's specialist subject, I wonder what his advice would be? very nice to see him smiling and riding!

Well Clem, reco is no driving for 24 hours after a general anaesthesia.
The risk in your case would have been hitting a pothole and tearing the sutures on the renal artery. You would then have had a life expectancy in the order of 5 minutes probably.
Or less.

I did know that I was taking a very serious (calculated/controlled) risk but bloody hell I felt good goeng down the New and Old Kent Road. potholes? what pot holes
so no worse than a full slide coming out of Windy coirner at about 140MPH if your Hamish or 120 if your me.

As the racing was delayed umpteen hours yesterday, but in the end worth the wait, and I was already in Ramsey, I took the opportunity to take Paul Dedman up on his offer to ride his V100 Mandello demo bike.
Certainly lived up to the hype, it‘s a thoroughly nice bike to ride, and probably could manage with just two gears rather than 6 there is so much useable torque. Brakes are good, comfort is good, and I easily matched the claimed top speed, but it’s still too bloody heavy. 😕
 
Paul Dedman helped me fix two problems on my RSV on our IoM trip 2014 (leaking oil tank and clutch cylinder):

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello....Modern RGS??

I think that Guzzi looks pretty cool. I wonder why it took them so long to move the carbies/throttle bodies out of the way of the rider's knees. Honda did it with their CX models by twisting the heads 45°. Guzzi has gone the full 90°. I suppose it leaves the space behind the cylinders clear for...
