VR trigger coils

Hello everyone,
Forgive me if this topic has been discussed previously but I cant find anything using the search.
I have an early 1200 with bosch cdi ignition.
I have fitted a witt ignition module and alls well so far.
However the original VR pick up coil wiring was in a poor state as others on here have also found. I have cut the wires back as close as I dare to the potting compound of the coils an soldered new wires in.
Now, it appears to me that it wouldnt be too much of a job to make a new stator plate and bolt on a couple of new trigger coils. My coils have a resistance of around 60 ohms. Is it possible to buy a couple of coils from electrex world of a similar resistance and use them?
Am I missing something? I am happier with a hammer and chisel than a multi meter but it seems fairlystraight forward.
Anyone on here done it?

There is (very) much more to worry about than finding a couple of 60 ohm coils.  If you search on variable reluctor you'll find some good info on the topic from John Wilson (IIS_IIS)  [use the Search menu above left, not the box top right].

Apart from heat; vibration & polarity, you'll see that the stray magnetic field from the alternator rotor may also need to be considered.  John in his inimitable style suggests that Ninja 250 TEK VRs would be a better solution -

as i have mentioned many times in the past if the Bosch VR's are faulty you can implement the TEK's from 250 Ninja's for next to nothing other than some adapter plate fabrication time. The TEK VR being single pole is a far better device than the Bosch, as the latter is very old now and in essence does not owe anything in performance/dollar trade off. What i do find bizarre is people bothering to rewind these old bosch VR's, and still end up with a poxy two pole hard to setup VR and pay for the pleasure of the result...mind boggling. Akin to rebuilding old spark plugs...

You could also search more widely using Google - although targetted at Megasquirt users, this provides some background

have 100's of the Ninja sensors in stock but you could probably buy them cheaper from the wreckers than what the cost of the postage would be from Aussie

we convert the 250 Kawasaki alternator systems to work on the 180 degree triples which means we replace the complete Bosch set up, triggers and all and when we buy the Kawasaki parts the VR sensors come with the stator, hence have a bin load of them
