does anybody in uk got a 1200 crankshaft for sale as i have bought a restoration project from a friend who has had the bike for years but had sent the crank away to be reconditioned but it went missing  so he never got round to rebuilding the bike

Welcome and congrats on your first post....as far as I know the 1000 crank is the same, so dont narrow your options. Thought I saw one on ebay in the last few days.

Please be aware there are 2 types of 180? crank....early with Bosch alternator, late with Nippon Denso.  They are not interchangeable without further extensive/expensive modifications.

1000 cranks work just as well :D !

The guy who bought the 1200 which is the subject of the Poacher & Preservation thread has both a 120 and 180 Jota crankshaft for sale on UK ebay. Dont think it will be long before this one is stripped and advertised. Be quick cos there are less than 2 days remaining and a number of bids have already been made.

Umm, I could be wrong, but aren't 1200 cranks weight balanced for (heavier) 1200 pistons and 1000 cranks for 1000 pistons?

Just a thought........

Supposedly, YES, Pete. 1200 cranks are even stamped "1200"!

BUT, bored-out 1000s work fine with the stock crank, and I have had to do it the other way 'round, too........ not much in it really!

Piet,

yeah...think you are right - I just looked back at my records and I had a 1000 with 1200 HC pistons and it was the one I had down as smoother than the rest!

Funny that  ::)
