Wanted: 750SF stateside

Thanks Sock- I owned an SFC back in the day and prefer a more sedate SF at this point, but I contacted the seller since he's somewhat local

Looks like a scam ad. Proceed w/ caution & please let forum know if truly legit.
 
After my debacle of purchasing an SF2 out of state on BAT (which wasn't as advertised), I've learned to never purchase w/o actually seeing it in person. I contacted the seller who sent me numerous photos, and said he resides in Bend OR but the bike is in Wyoming. It appears to be in good cosmetic condition, possibly re-painted-

I'd certainly recommend not parting with a cent until you've seen, in the flesh, the bike and the title.
 
I totally agree w/ you Sock- I've contacted 2 other Laverda owners in OR about this seller and bike. While not exactly cheap, the $30K price does seem on the low side, but perhaps that's a reflection of a cooling bike market.
 
Have a good look at William Kelly's fb profile - work history looks odd - just looks like a fake account to me. Look at the (very few) people who react to the posts on that account and they look fake as well.

I emailed him stating that I would need to see the actual bike which he claims is in Wyoming. His response was that he would accept a down payment in the meantime. So yes, this appears to be bogus- $30K for an SFC is questionable.
I'll continue looking for another SF stateside-
 
Yes, I bought it on BAT and that bike’s been an ongoing saga of checking and fixing everything possible.It was kept pretty but never properly serviced. After rebuilding the carbs, etc, etc, it starts up immediately, holds a steady idle and revs freely, but struggles past 50-60 mph. The cylinder bores are scored and there's excessive slop in the piston rings. A machinist/engine builder measured and found the bores are not true, along w valve seat leakage. Compression is 130 lbs each cylinder. New Ross Racing pistons are being installed and hopefully the motor will respond. I'll post the results once I get the motor back together and running. I'm looking for another SF because I like them-

Who's doing the mechanical work? Good Laverda shops are hard to find-
