Washer size Alpino 500 front wheel

It may seem an integral part of the speedo drive housing, but it was/is available seperately. About 1mm thick and fits into the recess of the housing and normally stays put. It is simply a bearing surface for the step in the axle to prevent mauling the soft housing alloy.

65 years on this dirt and girt and I had to google ‘mauling’ in that context.

Mostly I’ve only heard it from females “Would you stop mauling me” …… which makes sense in both forms I guess.

Gees Chris Mauling is a Rugby Term. Mauling and Rucking.
A rugby maul occurs when a ball carrier is held up by one or more opponents while one or more of the ball carrier's teammates bind onto them, forming a standing, moving pack of at least three players. Unlike a tackle, players must remain on their feet to drive forward, aiming to gain territory or score.

Key Aspects of a Maul:
  • Formation: Requires at least three players
  • Binding:Players must be securely bound with a full arm, not just holding on, and keep their heads and shoulders above their hips
    .
    • Movement: The aim is to move toward the goal line (often a "rolling maul").
    • Duration: If the maul stops moving for more than 5 seconds, the referee may award a scrum to the team that was not in possession, or demand they "use it".
