Weather where you are?

I agree with Al, stunning in good weather but bloody miserable in equal measure when the rain gods are at play. I can remember having some fantastic times as kid on the moors in the summer, playing in streams and eating picnics; but I can also recall, as a recently wed, mid twenty year old, having difficulty holding my SFC1000 upright in the wind and rain on a ride back from the Borders.

I guess that 'bleak and uninviting' is the image that the film makers wanted to portray.

In reality - on a dry day - the Yorkshire Moors and Dales are stunning.
Amazing riding country on relatively quiet, sweepy roads, superb views, great cafes and pubs - all topped off with Yorkshire hospitality and humour.
No recent bikes pics, sorry, but here's one I took in January at around -2'C, with the car plastered in road salt and us enjoying the warmth of heated seats....😎

Thinking surnames: John Carpenter the carpenter, Fred Baker the baker, Peter Derby from Derby ….. Roger Moore from The Moores …… maybe I need an early morning coffee.

Potential for another weak whirly bird to from off the coast further north, but just expect a bit of wind and heavy rain. (But of course the media and some other self proclaimed weather "experts" continue with their over the top nonsense:mad:)

You’re right, ever since BOM fucked up a couple of years ago, they’re turning a teacup into a storm.

Actually the BOM have been trying to be very measured in this one - their official lines has never suggested anything too dramatic but others have reinterpreted the English language and there is now a plethora of weather experts on places like FB who use extremely rare and ludicrous models to do forecasts usually with dire warnings of impending doom:rolleyes:

There are 2 Government Departments who usually own Super Computers, Defence for Code Braking and the BOM for weather modelling. A Buterfly flapes ect. Not many Facekickers I bet own Cray Super Computers megabucks gadgets.

Took the Bonneville for a spin to join the Moto Morini Club members at their monthly meet up at The Powis Arms (venue for Moto Italia) Decided to brave the 36 deg C temperatures wearing leathers but did give a nod to keeping cool with an open face helmet! Interestingly, hardly any Moto Morini motorcycles today with most turning up on their other marques, making for an interesting selection of other Italian machinery including this nicely restored Ducati Darmah. The open face helmet was a good choice .... leathers?..... maybe not! I was distracted for the whole return journey dreaming of a cold shower as soon as I got home. I wasn't disappointed. Phew! Is this really the UK? I won't complain though, no doubt "normal service will be resumed shortly" and then we'll all be reminiscing about those glorious days of the Summer of '26 and wishing they would return.

Our local heatwave is breaking: it’s down to 40 today and is predicted to drop slowly for a week until it reaches 34. The humidity varies from 50/70% at night down to 35% at mid day.

The “feels like” temp will be 49 to 50 all week…….

Temperature flirting with 40°C for the last week.
No bike riding, at home with all shutters closed.
Will be more normal next week.
We cancelled nearly all of our bike riding holiday due to another heatwave predicted for mid July.

Yep, all things are relative, there's always somebody worse off than ourselves. We Brits are never happier than when we're unhappy and complaining about something and it's a simple case of we're just not used to high these temperatures. But I'm not complaining because what we can be sure about is that it'll be shortlived and when it returns to cool and rain we'll be having a good moan about that and wishing we were back to sunny hot days!

If you think that in Northern France we're used to these temperatures.
The second time in a month.

Hasn't rained for weeks, big bike event on Sunday, and we get 4 days of rain. It's so wet I doubt I can stretch a power cable to my shed compressor and pump up the bikes' tyres.

It's always interesting to hear about 'heatwaves' in Europe - absolutely valid to say that kind of heat is bloody awful, but in Oz there are times when you just go out and do your thing in it. My no-no these days is riding in heavy city traffic on a moto in anything above 30 deg. That feeling of being trapped while you melt inside your protective clothing is a very big pet hate for me.
