Weather where you are?

Dellorto: You might survive the fire but the Loonshit will surely kill you. Either way your prospect of survival is not in your favor.

It's not the flame that will kill you - It's the lack of oxygen.

Loonshit and Quicksand are somewhat synonymous.

We have the same stuff here but we don't call it loonshit. I've been deep in it on many occasions in my younger days when I used to go bushwalking in South West Tasmania. It's a bastard when you suddenly disappear up to your waist in the stuff, with a heavy rucksack pushing you down. Takes a lot of effort to drag yourself out.

One of the valleys we used to trail ride beside the Putty Road out past Grey Gums Cafe years before it was built had a curious thing we discovered later called Peat Bog. It had nice low grass growing on it and it rippled if you walked slowly but brake the surface and it was bottomless. Interesting on a dirtbike. The only place I ever struck it. Hit some quicksand in a creek once as well, nothing like those Jungle Jim films. It doesn't suck you down to drown, just deep enough so the suction or Vaccum holds you and then gets scary. The more you dig the deeper you go. The trick to getting a bike out is leaning it over and then digging. Seems tidal creeks have this and the drowning happens when the tide comes in.

"Caught in Loonshit" is a Canadian expression meaning you have been called to prove yourself whether it is or not your cause.

That's how Jim used the term.

Santa must have been cloud seeding from his sleigh ..... thanks big fella.

Jim: Take it your in Queensland - Would very much like hear a Canadian take about Australia.

By the way "Caught in Loonshit" is a respected Canadian phrase being referred to a bottomless infested pit and it will take all you have too survive applying to the every day walk through life. There's nothing on earth really more terrifying then being lost in an endless Northern Canadian Swamp. Mosquito's so dense in a bottomless Loonshit Swamp can plug your nose and mouth and you suffocate while they suck the blood out of you - Not a pleasant way to die; as if, death is pleasant ;o)

Before you die you may find the Wendigo ("Wind-I-Go". The Name of my 35ft Hedley Nicol designed Australian Trimaran Cavalier - Sail Plan #35" Ketch sail boat) meaning "Bush Madness" in Ojibwemowin - My Ojibwe name is Shiko which means "Swamp spirit - Whom communicates between the living and the dead"; in other words, a phosphorous stump glowing in the dark while river paddling a canoe in the fog of night.

In all sense you stay away from Loonshit Swamps but shit happens in Life and without it you never really live.

Fuck I'm just an Irish kid, fortunate to grow up in Northern Ontario and rode a Breganzie 750 SF0 ;o)

By the way Merry XMas and Happy New Year to our Laverda Forum Weather reporters.

Dec 25th (XMas Day) 2019 North Shore Lake Huron = -3 to 0c with about 1ft of melting snow in the bush and a weather warning of freezing rain in effect  - Typical weather for the North Shore - I love Lake Hurons north shore climate - That's why I retired here.

Just read all that Ron ....... I'm going to find you one day soon! I'll tell you all about Australia ....... and then we'll talk loonshit ...... probably take us a week to get through all the stories!

Looking forward to meeting you Ron!

My ass crack only goes 90 after a night of Mexican food.

Is why I try not to fart in the car anymore. Air conditioning through the seats cause the
fart to hide out in the car until you start it again.

Light drizzle in Brisbane this morning.

Bit of a shower at Cooroy as well. Just got word I could be headed to Sydney area Monday or Tuesday.

Also found out that even though I am working for a Canadian company I have to receive a percentage of my wages in Australia. Might mean I have a bank account here for buying parts ...... or even a Laverda ...... and the boss lady back home may not even find out!

Oh yes ....... the possibilities are endless!
