Weather where you are?

Dave, 43 degrees C (109 degrees F) is pretty hot! 50 miles west of you in Woodcrest we are only a cool 32 degrees C (89 degrees F). My RGS has been ridden in 51 degrees C (124 degrees F) in Baker California. The bike and I were not happy! It took a lot of beer to keep me alive until night so I could continue riding to Utah to see my parents. Luckily I made it there before the sun came up. The return trip was all done at night.

It's raining in Sydney, again. Forecast rainfall tomorrow is 80 - 120mm. Here's a photo of Audley Weir in the Royal National Park:

Another grey cloudy day with scattered showers and wind. Should get up to 33/34 later. It was clear enough the day before yesterday to spend a couple of hours at the beach. I think we are experiencing the effects of Tripical Storm Bonnie which passed several hundreds of km south of us on her way to Central America.E1968837-D403-4D35-A70C-D7703C19F26A.jpeg

Before we left, I overheard a driver at the fuel pumps saying they didn’t understand all this fuss about gas prices: they always put $20 into the tank and that hadn’t been changed. Rising prices or not, it still only cost her $20, what was the big deal?

In the new place now, Supposedly warmer as close to the sea.....Getting light frosts, gone by 10am usually followed by sunny days.
Went out to the old place the other day and nearly got the van stuck on "lawn". There's been a load of rain out there - and an unladen Toyota Hiace van will lose traction if someone spits on longish grass.

Hope any Sydney residents on here are OK.

From the pictures I’ve seen it doesn’t look too good for Sydney residents. Hopefully the worst is over.
Makes my trip in the rain yesterday, in my leaky, as I discovered, rain suit a mere trifle by comparison.

I had a cheapo Fieldsheer (I think) jacket for a few years and it never leaked, well not for a good 90 mins maybe, might have been 50 quid at a show, but an off road tumble ruined it, (ripped on a log) so splashed out on a very dear £350, Richa fully armoured jacket, It has the half zip at the back and I thought that it would marry with half zip on my Richa leather pants (WRONG!) and it leaked down the front of the chest the first time I was out in the rain with it, trouble is, you've bought and paid for it, and you need it, what can you do, the answer is nought, nothing, zero, dont waste your breath etc, I now carry a PVC kitchen apron folded up, and if I get caught out, I stop (always stop early regardles of mates not wanting to etc) and put on the apron under my jacket, that keeps the wet off my clothes and me inside dry, very sweaty on a hot day though......
There never will be a 100% waterproof motorcycle jacket that undoes at the front, the best I ever had was a couple of hours, and that was a horrible dirty old greasy Barber jacket and trousers.
CLEM

Yes it is very wet. Just when we were getting over the previous La Nina event. However it stopped raining long enough this morning to take the dogs for a scamper in Callan Park, without needing umbrellas. Looks like staying like this for a couple more days.

Cheers,

bazzee

The best wet weather gear that I have had by far is a set of Australia Post gear given to me by ex NSW Laverda Club member Dan Fahey (RIP).
Had a one piece rain suit once, never again, ended up being soaked just getting it on.

I've had a couple of one-piece PVC things, one had a zip straight down the front which let the rain in on your crotch. The other had the zip running diagonally across the front and ended at your hip, which led to a much less embarrassing wet patch.

I've had my 1 piece Rukka suit since 1982 and it's still 100% waterproof
Used it a couple of months ago, 100kays in torrential rain and only damp around the collar and gloves soaking wet below the cuff. Wasn't cheap at the time but got my moneys worth after 40 years.

It's not rain gear but the best jumper ( a sweater in the USA) I ever owned was given to me by a Postie from Leichhardt. I've used it for near on 20 years and it is still better than any thermal gear I own.
I see today 'Posties in and around Sydney will be needing their rain gear.

That same postie from Leichardt also gave me one of those jumpers Dave. Bit heavy and bulky but damn warm being made from the best merino wool.
