What is your wonder glue?

Need to fix the airbox on my 3C. The old plastic is coming apart and the glue that I have has all dried up. Looked online to see what's new and there are hundreds of products all claiming to be the best.

Just wondered what anyone has for suggestions.

I thought of that but I don't know how well it works on old brittle plastic.

loctite 401, ut ou can also rpair it with some glas fibre and polyester laminate

I had reasonable success with Araldite, a two pack epoxy resin, reinforced by strips of beer can across the cracks and a wassher fixed to the bottom mounting holes.

I had planned to set a thin washer in but thank you for the suggestion of the beer can strips. Very good idea.

Now to find Araldite in Canada.
Jayzuz ....... $40 for a kit on Amazon. That's $30 USD or 25 quid.

I had planned to set a thin washer in but thank you for the suggestion of the beer can strips. Very good idea.

Now to find Araldite in Canada.

Any hardware will have araldite or a 2 part epoxy of another brand in the glue section, beer cans sounds like a very nostalgic solution from the 70s, maybe some carbon fibre or glass matt would be a better option

You could also drill tiny holes along the cracks and suture it closed with .020 safety wire before gluing or fiberglassing.

I'm just hoping the rest of the plastic isn't as brittle as the area where it broke. Came apart almost like bakelite.

Fist step is wash up the airbox and then check for cracks.

Used some once. Didn't do shit on metal.

Ive found it fine on plastics.

I think the stuff you sprinkle a bit of magic dust on is what you need, such as Q bond. Otherwise products like JB weld is an option.

J B Weld makes a 2 part epoxy for plastic...get it at Canadian Tire etc. Works on some plastics well...not sure about the airbox. It also dries black.

Here’s another I’ve had good results from.

I found a huge selection of isocyanate glues including spray catalysts at my local hobby/RC airplane shop. The spray kicker let me apply the glue, position the parts then activate the glue. That might be what you are looking for, a good shop should be able to make recommendations as to what type of glue will work if you bring in a sample.
