Whats Happened to Ron

It would have been good to know Ron's whisky preference. There is certainly diversity, some of us fringe dwellers often step over the line. Ron, I think, is a bit of a fringe dweller. We love our bikes though. We love our laverdas. I personally am going a little insane waiting for mine, not seen for 3 years, to cross the border so I can ride it.

I have no idea what precipitated Ron (Laverda SF) and Yogi being banned, but I hope it was a temporary suspension rather than termination.

Some of us sad old gits who live alone (like myself) enjoy this place as a form of social interaction. I don't get out much because Covid omicron is spreading like wildfire through the community and I'm immuno-compromised (due to anti-cancer drugs) so I'm at higher risk than most. I've been living like a hermit lately and haven't seen much of my friends in person for quite a while. I don't do Facebook because their data mining activity is the antithesis of a privacy policy. I visit other forums only on occasions when I'm looking for specific technical information.

Sad and lonely as it may be, this Laverda forum is the only bit of cyberspace where I come to interact with friends rather than source information. I would feel very much more isolated if I were banned from here.

I suspect Ron may be in a similar situation. He's the wrong side of 70, living on his own, family either dead or estranged, no bike to keep him amused, not even a dog for companionship as far as I'm aware. I suspect this forum was an important form of social interaction for him. So a permanent exclusion could be cruel and excessive punishment for whatever transgression he committed. I worry about his well-being when we don't hear from him.

Ron posted a lot of weird, incomprehensible and irrelevant shit, especially when he was pituded. But he has a sense of humour and did no harm that I ever saw. Even if some people find him mildly annoying, they can choose not to read his posts or interact with him.

Having met Yogi on occasions, I don't believe he is as socially isolated as Ron, so his exclusion from here may be of less consequence to him. Nevertheless, it still seems a bit extreme to me.

Ron and Yogi are both decent guys and they have friends here. So this is my request to the Admin guys to reinstate them both.

The covid has people on the edge and volatile. I also hope it's temporary and that's why I asked, I had no idea it was a holiday and thought maybe it was horrible more permanent if you get my drift. This probably puts the admin in a painful spot and I don't like that either, hows's that quote, why cannot we just all just get along.

Yes covid restrictions have played real havoc with peoples lives and made them a bit irrational in some cases. I know Ron could be annoying but I think he and Yogi should be reinstated. I agree with everything Cam is saying too.

Couldn`t agree more.

I fear that many of us are in a similar situation. I am fortunate to have my wife here, but social interaction with a wider group has all but ceased. It's simply too dangerous. Under such conditions, the quirky and unpredictable contributions of the forum members become all the more important for my sanity. We're an amazing lot, and I think that at times the forum can be a lifeline.
