Where are all the Laverda triple rebuild project bikes in North America?

since I last did a total bare frame bare engine cases rebuild on the 82 1200 Mirage Series 2, I have not seen another project Laverda available.

Since then I did a bare frame bare engine cases build on the 1957 Gilera 150 Sport, an engine rebuild on the 78 Kawasaki KZ 650, the recent comprehensive refresh on the 1997 Moto Guzzi V10 Centauro, and I am currently reflashing the ECU and rebuilding the fuel injection on my most recent acquisition, the 2007 Moto Guzzi California Vintage.

I am on the hunt for this coming years winter rebuild project, and I can't find a Laverda anywhere near me. I am thrashing about looking at various project possibilities.

Yes i am going to call Wolfgang, and yes I still have the likely rebuildable fire damaged remains of the 1966 Garelli 150 with its Laverda 150 single engine. However, I think I am done with high end builds of small older displacement motorcycles, building the Gilera cost as much as a total build on a Jota and the Gilera is worth only a fraction at the end of what a Jota would be worth with the same build quality. Plus the 7 hp Gilera with its 100 kph top speed is not useable in the real world.

Suggestions?

Hi Paul I've got a 1200 I'm probably going to sell soon (old age health problems) but its hardly a project with only 42,000 km on it and it runs tip top, never been down and still has the original brake pads and surface grinding marks on the rotors, I just roll off and tip it in, ha ha. All original except a DMC and removal of the orange stripes ( regrettably now )., Bought it from the original female owner in 1984 who bought it new from Elite in Calgary. Wolfgang knows the bike as he tested a few DMC units on it. Will not be cheap, so probably not what you're looking for as a project. Cheers

I’ve got an RGS frame to start you off on a project…
Or a MK2 Atlas that with all the experience and tips from Vince should be a doddle to restore.
Otherwise plenty of Zane bikes in boxes I could ship your way..

Paul how about my Corsa? It has been maintained and is running good but would benefit from all the special touches you do. I can drop off in October. Spend as much money and time on it as you want and I'll pick it up in May. Quite a generous offer to make it your winter project! 😁😁😁

Hi Henry

I just did exactly that with the 97 V10 Centauro Guzzi. Bought it from a friend for $4,500 not running, threw $3,000 + in parts at it and maybe 100 + hours, then traded it back to the same friend for an exceptional condition 2007 Guzzi California Vintage valued at between $7,500 - $9,000. My friend is thrilled with the reconditioned Centauro, likely would have been $10,000 + in work from a shop….. now I am rebuilding and remapping the fuel injection of the California, just did the brakes, high output LED’s all around, and “while I am at it I might as well…..” I like the California Vintage better than the Centauro thankfully.

silly old Paul, you should have bought the Corsa that I was struggling to sell on behalf of an incapacitated friend, or my own very low mileage procrastinated one three months ago (both now sold) is the Corsa the second most collectable Laverda??? I would have brought it over as excess luggage, would have been a pleasure, I hear its not too difficult for expats to bring bikes from UK into Vancouver, a bit tricky if you dont take them home with you on return to Uk

They are hard to find here on the East Coast. I have a 77 Jota in boxes waiting for me to rebuild it. The problem is the v7 Sport engine on the bench mocking me. Guzzis go together fast but this one I can’t seem to pick up.
