Where are they now ?

Many years ago when the grass was green and the sky was blue , and a pint was 37 pence ......... I remember seeing , ( in this great and confused city ) , the products of a certain Moto Laverda positioned at rest at various locations on a regular , almost monotonous basis ...........

Two SF`s amongst a group of four or five bikes halfway up Church Road
One SF parked outside the Royal Kitchen on Coldharbour Road
One Green Mirage parked most nights outside The Anchor at Filton
One Green Mirage ( another one ) parked most nights outside The Vittoria on Whiteladies Road
One black/silver Jota parked on a Saturday night outside The Mardyke on Hotwell Road
One 1200T custom hardtail parked outside The Cutter on Cumberland Road
One RGV250 outside The White Hart on Upper Maudlin Street ...... ( ok , not a Laverda ...... but it was a nice blue/white VJ21 .... the proud owner had a photo of it put behind the bar ... ) .......

All disappeared now of course , just like two or three of the pubs mentioned above .........

Another example of how the world`s gone wrong .................

A QJ Motors SRK800 ...... a 90 bhp four for £7k is all very tempting ......... ( Chinese MV Agusta engineering at bargain basement prices and all that ) .........

A resale value of no more than £3k in 18 months time not so much .........

Going back to the Laverdas spotted back in the `eighties ......... The SF`s especially always seemed to be used as " working bikes " as Royce Creasy might have had it ............

Parked out in the street in all weathers ....... slightly dog-eared and scruffy ...... definitely not 100% original and rarely cleaned ........ but ready to be jumped on and ridden at any time on each and every day ....... A bit like an LC really , but for grown ups ..........

The triples didn`t really embody that " everyday " vibe as well as the twins .......

Well, back in ‘85 locals Dave ? Bastable had a Jota, KevinBennett had a Jota, Robert Bracken and a 3 CE, Graham Brown had a Jota, Stephen Hammett had a Motoplast 1000, Rob Munro had his Monty, Kay. Newsham had an Alpino, Steve Pritchard had a Jota, Michael Reed had a Jota, Royston Starr had a Jota, Carly Wills had an RGS and a Mirage, Simon Elton had a Jota, Alex Frost had a Jota, Andy Evan’s had a 1200 turbo.
However, these are just club members and I recall that some did previously own 750’s.

Probably somewhere. I'm embarrassed to say I 'dropped it' on a wet road near Milton Keynes, slid a long way and that was the end of that as it landed turbo pipe down....
Heh, you're man enough to admit it, nothing wrong with that.
I'm guessing it probably had too much horsepower and the traction control was not set for rain... :(

The power certainly kicked in when the turbo got up to speed but it had nothing really to do with a lack of traction control but a lack of anti lock brakes. I had been following a queue of traffic from Buckingham and I knew a long straight stretch of road was coming up just before you get to Stony Stratford.
I got to the straight bit and went to overtake the queue but a van and trailer pulled out from the line of traffic in front of me. I followed them past a slower vehicle and the driver started to pull back in to the left so I wound the throttle open and then the cupid stunt changed his mind and pulled back out to overtake the next vehicle in the line, by which time the turbo had kicked in. I obviously needed to slow down pretty quickly to avoid mounting the trailer and unfortunately locked the front and down I went. The driver and trailer just carried merrily on their way never to be seen again. In addition to wrecking the bike I was also picking bits of gravel out of my left knee for several days. 🤬

What a prick in that van, Andy. I can just imagine him smirking to himself seeing you sliding down the road on your arse. Now that's a perfect argument for permanent Go Pros.

Sorry to read that Andy.

Did Malcome Cox build a turbo as well? I've seen references to some sparkly bike.
Here you go, Vince:
