Just putting 81 jota motor back together and I have some different head gaskets. the one that I wanted to use has copper rings but no cut outs for the 4 O rings. The other one has the cut outs but dosen't look like copper rings, it says Victor Renz on the gasket. Which one would you suggest I use?

Erm,
I know its not an answer, but I am about to use a copper gasket, i.e all copper, sourced from Clem. I think Red has some too. There are pro's and cons..the latter being the need to ensure surfases are level , anealing(sp?) too. But it does away with the need for o rings and is re-usable (not that you or I wish to contemplate taking the things apart ever again, eh ;) A test run with my home made ring compressors using a spare liner on one of my new pistons shows they work nicely :D Full barrel lowering later this week ,if I get the time one evening..

All you need is a router and hole punch and you can make your own copper one,

One I prepared earlier :D :D

clem's copper gaskets are functional bits of beauty
they work very well

the reinz gaskets are sized for the stud shank, but not the rolled threads
which tends to pull some of the gasket material up

i'd be tempted to open the O ring holes on the one with copper rings
i'd bet on it being a better fit over the studs

i'm not sure the copper rings make a difference on a std 1000

cheers,
scot
