Why the Laverda 500 Turbo was erased?

Sorry but I cannot understand why the above thread was erased.

Please, can the forum administrator explain it to me?

I don't know to have make something wrong but like to know if I'm right

Thanks.
Content of threads disappears from time to time.
More likely a technical problem than a human intervention.

Sounds like a cover-up @Paul LeClair. I heard the forum got served a cease and desist as the model is just about to be launched... after 42 years of development!
The vanishing thread was due to a mistake made by me...but the spy story option could be fashionable, too!

About the development of a turbocharged version of the Laverda Alpino 500 DOHC, it was shortly runned in the early eighties by the Factory (with an earlier support of the famous car tuner Romeo Ferraris, before and after the above experience, involved in some winning BMW, Alfa Romeo and Fiat Abarth racers)

some head overhating problems (concentred mainly in the exhaust valves area) due the poor air ventilation, the original project which allowed only a few lubricant can arrive to the upper engine zone and the more heating tipcial of first generazion aircooled supercharged power units (without intercoolet, too), caused the quick end of this work

but for a few chilometers before valve burning and the bented head, the tester reported a good output (we and the tuner suppose 70-75 HP)

Note: the final development of that bike, included a special fairing designed with some "forced" intakes in order to avoid the overheating...

We are going to make another scoop with it.

Cheers

Thanks for posting this. It is very interesting.

By the way, I think your new word 'Chilometers' is fantastic, what a beautiful way to describe that perfect Sunday ride, sun behind you lighting up the scenery ahead, warm tarmac, brain and body relaxed, engine running sweetly and a whole day's worth of Chill-ometers ahead :)

NOTE: NOT FANTASY BUT ONLY THE TRUTH
The prototype runned several times at good speed approx 30 chilometers each before burning the valves...a few minutes (15-20) then the head area with the exhaust valve housings was bented, so the valves cannot close in the proper way and END OF THE TEST come

I like poetry but still remain a mechanic...

We have spoken about this project with the persons who worked on and are still alive:

a) Two engineers who worked in the above project : the younger now involved in another motorcycle factory, the older is retired
b) The car tuner (he is retired but his workshop is still workin' on cars runned by his son, and the dad's brain is fine: his hobby now it clocks fabrication...)
c) The factory tester
d) The designer who made the bike complete fairing and body development

All their memories were written by them and signed.
There are pictures, drawing , and test report.

And that's it.
