No, not me
Anyone in Oz with a classic bike or car will have heard of Shannons Insurance. i've got the Sfq insured with them, agreed value. They send newsletters and promos via email that I usually ignore, and included in them is a comp for new policies, a chance to win a trip for two all expenses paid to the Goodwood festa, plus 5k spending moula, a Merc hire car and an Indian worth A$30k. Well, a friend go a phone call last week that his number came up! He thought it was a hoax call, but has been confirmed.

Don't think I've ever met anyone who has won one of these pseudo lotteries - i always suspected they were phony and no prize ever materialised. Not so!

In the 80’s I knew a husband and wife that won AUD$1.8 million. Back then it was a lotto 😉 money. As some sort of reference, my three bedroom house around that time cost me $44K

The whole family was in government housing and living outa their arses.

I heard, as I’d moved away, that it took around 2 years and a busted family before they were living outa their arses again.

I entered a magazine contest to win VIP tickets to the US MotoGP at Laguna Seca in the 1990’s. Send in a postcard with your name and address, no limit to number of entries. I bought 100 prepaid postcards and spent a couple of nights filling them in while we watched TV after dinner. The wife teasing me the whole time for being an idiot. Well a few months later I found I had won! Rode the RGS up and had a great weekend, only one pass so she stayed at home.

I worked with a bloke that was so sure he was going to win a prize home, drove 2 hours with his wife to look at it before closing tickets, to …… discuss what walls they were going to pull out.

No he didn’t win.

When I was an apprentice I won a pub raffle for a “pig in a barrow” at Friday drinks. It was the wrong day to ride my bike to work….

Haven’t won a bloody thing since 🤣

Oh, one night I won two meat raffles at the pub, just before flying to Germany for three weeks.

Put them in the fridge, returned home to no power, because I forgot to pay the bill before I left….. opened the front door to….. phew.

Won a supermarket trolley dash - started in the isle with crisps and biscuits 😆 no booze allowed - one of the managers helped by chucking some stuff in at the end from the freezer cabinets

My brother in law won a TVR sports car - he had nowhere to store it and not really interested in cars so he told them to re raffle it - raised 40k for a Ukrainian soldiers fund

My last name is Pepper. About 40 years ago I won a radio call in contest to win a T-shirt advertising the soft drink Dr. Pepper, the shirt had "I'm a Pepper" on it. The shirt was two sizes to small. Sigh.

I won a VOK vodka T-shirt at a western bar I frequented.

A few weeks later I was wearing the shirt at the bar. I could see a girl across the way checking me out, and whispering to he friends while looking straight at me.

The girl with, long red hair, approached me and started small talk, then asked if she could have my T-shirt.

A lot of drinks later she came back and asked again.

Fuller of beer, I said she could as long as we swapped shirts there and then…. off came her shirt, off came my VOK T-shirt, we swapped and she gave me a peck on the cheek and proudly put on my VOK T-shirt and went back to her friends cheering.

I asked the bar owner who she was:
Vicki O’Keefe, daughter of Johnny. 😳
