wiring

I have early Laverda 750s Gt 15538 & Sf 8787. 15538 runs beautifully. 8787 has been parted out for decades. Ok both have the early Bosch headlamps. The factory manual shows no wiring color code for the GT in the schematic diagram. I have the wiring color code for the Sf in the Grn Bk. Would the wiring color code be the same for Sf 8787 & Gt 15538?

I need more informations.

- which clocks? ND or Smith?
- which switches? the old Bosch/italian, Lucas or ND?

The original wiring-drawings have no color-code.

When i know the exact version/model i could make fotos of original looms.
As the old looms have such a few cables it schould be no problem to indentify them.
Only the switch inside the old Bosch-lamp is a little tricky. A foto will help.

Both 8787 & 15538 have the Bosch headlamp. Both have Lucas switches. 8787 is ND. But 15538 has Smiths. I took off all turn signal lights on the Gt. The Sf never had turn sig lights anyway. Do not want turn signal lights. Both Starter relays are the big ones... cone on the right. There is also a relay? (I think) inside the headlamp. just to the left looking inside...If this is for turn signals then I would not have to worry about it. Beautiful pic of redone one on reply. Looks new but unoriginal. Mine are quite used but I want to keep it original. Should not be hard but I do not know electrical well and do not want to fry the system!
Everytime I tried to post pics Laverda forum would not take them. I will try less pixels. In a day or so. Thanks Ev

When I got my '74 3C it had no indicators although the wiring was all there for them. For at least 10 years i rode it like that giving hand (and boot) signals for direction changes. Eventually i decided that seeing as most car drivers have difficulty understanding that kind of signalling that I'd be better off with  normal indicators. I bought and installed lamps, and used a GSXR-1100 flasher can from the wreckers, all good. And I felt much safer...

cheers,

You want to reduce, resize pictures to less than 600 ko (I think) Do a google search.
Relay in the headlight isn't original, it might be for the horns.

When I bought mine the previous owner told me: "....but from the electrical point of view it is ok, trust me, for sure."

You only need 1 wire. The blue one from the main loom. It feeds the coils.
Just put it directly on the front right hand post on the ignition plate and you have a running bike.
Will get on your way.
All you need is a Swiss army knife with a screwdriver attachment.

Dead relays, electronic ignition etc won't.

:D

Incredible but up to now the bike is wired as you was saying Paul and at the same time I have the Shaun's sketch in my pocket for future and best result...  8)

Thomas, you have the engine numbers so that will let you know what the bike is.
Paul

Paul: That would be easy, but my experience is, that most Laverdas (> 90%) no longer have 100% original parts, frame,.....
Either other parts were added after an accident/defect or they wanted to make the Laverda optically or technically more modern.
Brakes, forks, carburetors, cylinder heads, fittings or lighting are typical parts that have been changed over the course of the owners.

For this purpose, an earlier year of construction was often entered in the registration in Germany because the requirements were not so strict.

First I get a general overview of all installed parts including the screws used!
Special questions such as "Is there non, one or two reinforcing ribs on the cylinder base on the left rear side?"

With the attached table originally by "hammer and Willi W." has been created, you can then very quickly narrow down and define the original year of construction and model.
