My Jota runs On 32*, no pinging as far aus I can say. But it runs on at least 98 Octane. It has an optimized/flowbenched SFC head.

I think Red also runs his optimized triples On more pre-ignition, no?

Sorry, correctio: Jota had 32, SFC had 36, but went back to 32, to. Better save than sorry...

no, we use initial of 8 degrees and a maximum of 30 degrees on the race engine, 11.2:1 CR

Sorry no idea on compression, I've had this engine since about 1984 and had 1200 liners put in by Phil Todd in 1986/7 had carbs bored out, cams reprofiled and high comp pistons fitted then, Was not particularly knowledgeable about ratios then just being a bit of a lad, next I seized engine in 1992 ish sent engine to new owners of Mottod after lots of hassle went back and picked up box of bits with new pistons so not sure what was supplied, there it slept until 18 months ago when time and money meant I had time to resurrect the bike, pistons have the raised dome. So possibly whatever Mottod were using about then.
Perhaps I'll start about 10 and see how I get on.
