Tasmania is the base for Australia's Antarctic endeavours. Their Diesel engines in Antarctica use a fuel that they call SAB (Special Antarctic Blend). It's a 50/50 mix of normal pump diesel fuel and kerosene. If they were to use undiluted Diesel, it would turn to wax in the cold environment.
It's not recommended to run Diesel engines on the stuff in non-freezing climates though, because at "normal" temperatures it has less of a lubricating effect than pump Diesel fuel.
Incidentally, "SAB" is the same brew that is used for domestic oil heaters. The Antarctic Division's requirement for massive quantities of the stuff (all our Antarctic bases are powered by Diesel generators) makes it readily available to local consumers at a reasonable price, so it's still a viable proposition to use the old Vulcan domestic oil heaters here in Tassie.
