Hi guys,

Curiosity made me post this. What sprocket sizes do fellow 750 Zane owners run. My current Sport and Formula run 15 front and 42 rear sprockets but my non running Sport runs a 16front and 43 rear. About to stick those on the Formula as they were near enough new.

Anyway, when I thought about it I wondered what other peoples choices were. The gearing to help in the built up areas will probably be a big factor for most.

The difference in the gearing would make little difference as you describe, 2.7 to 2.8. The extra tooth on the front, 14 to 15 would reduce an effect called polyginal which causes wear.

Gearing as fitted by all manfacturers is a compromise and you should use gearing to suit your riding style. I have always taken 4 teeth out of my Bandits rear sprocket and it suits me fine. Many sprockets, even between different makers are interchangable. All have a 3 or 4 digit code followed by a 2 digit code. The 2 digit is the number of teeth and the first number is the fitting (hole centres, cut outs etc etc). Modern cumputer systems means that most dedicated sprocket sellers should be able to cross reference with ease as I have found out with the 630 conversion on Laverdas but before that it was a case of getting catalogues and trawling through them.

I really must get a life :D :D :D :D :D
